Hotel Club Amigo Marea del Portillo
The Club Amigo Marea del Portillo - Farallón Hotel is a 3-star all-inclusive resort located in the Sierra Maestra National Park. Famous for the fine and brown sands of the beach that surrounds it, the hotel is located in the La Mora inlet, protected by large mountainous elevations and surrounded by palm and coconut trees.
The hotel is ideal for those looking for a small oasis halfway between the sea and the mountains. Although it is located about 100 km from the Manzanillo airport, the Marea del Portillo hotel is located very close to the National Parks Desembarco del Granma and Turquino, the latter with the highest elevation in Cuba, the Turquino Peak, at 1974 meters above the level from sea.
Those who decide to stay here for a few days, can enjoy, besides the enormous tranquility that is breathed here, horseback riding, hiking on ecological trails, the waterfalls of the Cilantro and Las Yaguas rivers, boat tours, visits to the neighboring cays and the possibility of practicing water sports.
Also, one of the most tempting offers is that from there you can dive to a beautiful coral reef very close and even see two sunken galleons really sensational. One of them is the old ship Columbus, which was the most important of Admiral Cervera's fleet. The area of the hotel is also ideal for paragliding. Some experienced pilots report that it is one of the best flying areas in Cuba.
As for the hotel itself, it has a 24 hour reception service, gym, tennis courts, massage, sauna, pool, safety deposit box, money exchange, hair dresser, bar, restaurant, conference rooms, laundry service (extra cost), bicycle rental, car park and children's room. There is also a main 4 floor building and a 2 floor annex, with a total of 283 rooms. They all include air conditioning, bathroom, satellite TV, telephone and minibar.
The hotel Marea del Portillo is, in short, a very good option for those who want to clear the stress of cities and seek the calm of the mountains and the sea. The food can be limited and the treatment of the staff is not always the most polite, but otherwise the reviews are quite optimistic about the hotel.
